I spent some time last night playing with circles. I've not done a lot with circles in my artwork because I am generally a more linear person, but thought it would be nice to do something a little different. An aside....I hate ovals. I have no idea why, but can't say I have ever even made anything with an oval shape in the 14+ years I have been playing with paper. That dislike also extends to oval mirrors, turkey platters, etc. I wonder if an oval did me wrong in my childhood! I never get tired of squares or rectangles. Hmmmmmmm. I wonder if other people have shapes they just don't care for. Let me know!

Hi Nancy - so glad to have found your blog. I am re-reading and working my way through your book.
How did you do these? Just lovely.
I used an old cardstock sheet of 12 x 12 that I had spot brayered with acrylic paint. I then spot brayered some gesso over top and when dry, stamped randomly in black Staz On. I punched them out and mounted, adding some smaller black glossy punches for accent.
I am glad you are enjoying the book!
Nancy, I haven't been to your blog for awhile and i love all the art and painting you've been doing!!! Congratulations to your daughter!!! How thrilling!!
Thanks so much, Wanda. I am glad you stopped by. There hadn't been very much to look at for a long time due to the upheaval this year!
I hate scallops. Can't really make a flower to save my life. Don't edge anything with curves, like is currently fashionable. It seems like every card these days has a scalloped something or other. I'm sick of it! Love your circles, and might have to play with that technique!
I LOVE your circles, Nancy!! You amaze me . . . turning ordinary circles into BEAUTIFUL art!!! YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!
Pat and Michi....
Thanks for your comments! Pat...I loved reading what you like and don't like. Thanks for checking in with that. As always, Michi, your comments are heartfelt and so encouraging. Thank you so much. It was nice to hear after a fairly long drought without much done in my studio.
I have been a huge fan of your work for some time now and my copy of Texture Effects is just about worn out with the number of times I look through it.
You are not alone with your dislike of ovals......it's about the only shape I can't abide.
Keep up the fab work.
